Class Descriptions

Class sorted by starting age:

Plie' & Play - 18 months -3 years

Plie' & play is an adult assisted class for our littlest aspiring dancers. For about 30 minutes, we will work on some creative movement and circle time dance exercises, and allow the students to explore their inner dancer. For the other 30 minutes, we will allow free play within the studio space and a chance for parents to share conversation, coffee, and support. This class only: masks required for adults but not children

Combo Classes (Ballet/Tap/Jazz/Acro) - Ages 3-6 

These classes offer an introduction into the specific dance styles paired with some creative movement exercises. Engaging music is used to get these little ones inspired to dance, all while introducing basic ballet/tap/jazz/acro technique. They will learn how to follow direction and imitate movement, while developing gross motor skills in a positive and fun environment. The contrasting styles in these classes helps to keep their focus through the entire hour.  See specific dance style descriptions for more detailed information on what those include!

 

Note: Students must be potty trained

Ballet - Ages 6+ Also a part of our combo classes

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides the grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence. It is strongly recommended that all dancers enroll in a ballet class.
 

Acrobatics - Ages 6+  Also a part of our combo classes

Acrobatics is the performance of extraordinary feats of balance, agility, and motor coordination. In this class, you can expect to learn skills similar to the floor portion of gymnastics - front and back rolls, cartwheels, hand stands, back bends, and as students progress- flips! Your teacher will guide you through  exercises to learn and execute acrobatic skills and build strength and balance. 
 

Jazz- Ages 6+ - Also a part of our combo classes

Jazz is a fun, upbeat style of dance that stems from ballet and combines today’s stylish moves with energetic, popular music. Students will learn beginner jazz technique and apply it to choreography- helping to build coordination and memory skills!

Teen Jazz/Ballet - 6th-12th Grade

Being a teenager who wants to learn how to dance can be intimidating! This class will be geared towards beginner technique for teens. We will introduce the basics of ballet and jazz technique, and learn different styles of choreography.  We will build confidence and coordination throughout this series!

 

Hip Hop - Ages 5 - Adults  

Hip hop is a high energy freestyle dance form that has evolved from breakdancing, street dancing, urban, and jazz into one of the most popular dance forms today. This class encompasses athleticism, flexibility, agility, creativity and soul. This class focuses on the fundamental techniques and foundations of the hip hop style and develops dancers musicality, coordination, confidence, performance skill, and their ability to pick up choreography.

Adult Beginner Jazz 

Jazz is a fun, upbeat style of dance that stems from ballet and combines today’s stylish moves with energetic, popular music. Students will improve rhythm, coordination and agility. Class will include a warm up, jazz technique and choreography. It is recommended that you have some prior dance experience, or have completed our Dance Tecnique Basics 6 week course. 

 

Adult Beginner Ballet

This beginner ballet class will move at a slower speed, focused on expanding the repertoire of ballet fundamentals.  Class will begin with a warm-up, followed by ballet barre, center floor, and across the floor exercises.  To join this class, it is recommended that you have some prior ballet experience, or have completed our Ballet Basics 6 week course. 

Adult Beginner Tap 

Great for developing rhythmic coordination skills, through various barre, center and cross-floor exercises and routines.  We focus on proper technique, clear sound and musicality. To join this class, it is recommended that you have some prior tap experience, or have completed our Tap Basics 6 week course. 

Adult Stretch & Sip 

Grab your favorite cocktail and relieve stress and tension through stretching techniques.  Stretches will be focused on reducing pain, improving posture, and increasing range of motion.  Individual requests for specific problem areas are taken each class.  This is a great alternative OR supplement to yoga, and a great way to end your week with a little happy hour self care

BYOB encouraged for those over 21, but not required 

Adult Ballet/Jazz Technique Basics - Next one starts August 24th

This is an absolute beginner class for those who have never danced before. Focus will be on learning proper posture, ballet terminology, and executing the fundamental techniques of ballet.  We will also explore some basic Jazz technique and choreography. This class is a 6 week series and each class is 75 minutes long.  It is recommended as a prerequisite to the Beginner Ballet or Jazz class for anyone who has never danced before.

Adult Tap Basics --Next one starts October 5th

This is an absolute beginner class for those who have never tapped before. We will work on learning basic tap terminology and steps, along with some beginner rhythms. This class is a 6 week series that is sure to help boost your coordination while having fun! This class is recommended as a perquisite to the Beg/Int Tap class for anyone who has never tapped before.
